AT A GLANCE

The monster cannot see you; it hears the water. Use the tiled platforms as footholds, track its position and direction, and check your next landing before jumping. It can approach platform edges, so keep watching after a pebble throw, too.

Recognize the Pumpkin-Headed Creature

Look for an orange-brown, pumpkin-shaped head with a dark stem, a bulky dark gray-brown body, and thick, long arms. At close range, its large mouth reveals tightly packed sharp teeth.

The creature moves through the green water between tiled platforms and large columns. Watch the water beside your route as well as the platforms ahead.

It Hears the Water

The wall instruction gives the detection rule directly: “IT CAN'T SEE YOU. IT HEARS THE WATER.” Water sound is the cue it uses to detect you.

Use the tiled platforms as landing points when crossing the pool. Before moving, locate the creature in the surrounding water and check its direction so you can judge the next crossing.

Watch Its Position Before Crossing

Check both the creature's movement and your next landing before committing to a jump:

  1. Pause on your current platform and locate the monster in the water.
  2. Turn the camera to follow its movement, including when it passes beside you.
  3. Face the next landing and check where the creature is relative to that crossing.
  4. At the rotating section, wait for the long platform to align approximately with the forward route before jumping onto its near end.

Near the rotating platform, the creature can pass close on the left and later move to the right. Keep following it through that movement, then bring the next landing back into view. Its position and the platform's orientation both matter when choosing when to continue.

For the approach and the complete boarding-to-exit sequence, follow the rotating-platform guide.

Close Encounters at Platform Edges

The monster can approach a platform from the front or move alongside its edge. Standing on a tiled platform still leaves you close to the creature in the surrounding water.

At close range, it can open its mouth directly in front of you, exposing its sharp teeth, while a red overlay appears. Keep checking the sides of your platform when turning toward the next landing; looking only straight ahead can leave a nearby creature out of view.

Keep Watching After a Pebble Throw

Throwing a pebble is not a signal that your crossing is clear. In a throw toward the water beside a column, the monster moves toward the column area, then approaches the player's platform and turns.

After throwing, follow the creature's actual movement. Check whether it is still near your platform or next landing before continuing; a move toward a column does not establish that it will stay away.

Use the pebble controls guide for the PC and touchscreen throwing inputs.
